Such is the frail existence of all who turn from God, according to the biblical prophet Job.

My son who was not to be kept from adventure during a family outing descended into this abyss while his mother and I looked on, horrified at the potential consequences. Between him and us lay a chasm, filled with a surging tide. He had found his way onto a small isthmus during a day trip to Deception Pass in Washington state. Our concerned calls were met with a “Don’t worry, I got this” attitude, and he continued down while his mother turned her back. He eventually reached his goal unharmed. Thus we learn, perhaps unfortuanately, to trust in things as frail as a spider's web!

Thankfully, his descent revealed another way back that was much less precarious.
